Our Mission

A warrior respite and retreat will provide respite, relaxation and educational opportunities to veterans and their families through outdoor activities.

Patriot Farm will have professional literature, marketing, and dedicated dates to host veterans’ events. We will procure a form of transportation, such as an off-road vehicle, for guests with limited mobility. Our goal is to ensure all guests can enjoy the walking trails on the property and participate in seasonal events.

By the end of December, 2025, Patriot Farm will have an identified annual event to raise funds. We will also have amassed volunteers to act as hosts for veterans at events throughout the year to expand our service opportunities and outreach.

After the ribbon cutting, Scott was presented with a handmade quilt by his niece, Gabby, that will be enjoyed by visitors at The Farmhouse. There are still plenty of needs on our wishlist!

One week until our renovated farmhouse ribbon-cutting and fall event! We still need a few volunteers to help check in, give directions, etc. A huge help if you have a golf cart to donate for the day. We are looking for 4 golf carts to allow veterans with limited mobility independence during the day. Golf carts remain parked unless there’s a veteran or family member in need. Frank is a machine when it comes to chainsaws and helping veterans!

Tons of work going on to prep for, of all things, our workday! We will be cutting firewood for syrup production and to donate firewood for heating to veterans in Newaygo County. We will also be cleaning the Farm House to prepare for our ribbon-cutting and lots of other activities. We hope you can bring some cleaning supplies, a chainsaw, work gloves, etc., and help help us on Saturday, 27 September. We spent some time making more of our blank photo cards reflecting seasons at the farm. This popular item is for sale at our events. Each set includes four unique photos, and sells for $10. They are great to send out individually or to give the set as a gift.

A benefit of working to improve the treacherous hillside… Finding a cow in the woods! AKA Chicken Of the Woods, a delicious wild mushroom that has the texture and flavor of a chicken breast. Peak season is August. Never munch on a hunch! If you don’t know what it is, don’t eat it!!

We debated about outdoor plumbing (not really!).....septic and drain field are going in today as we decided our guests deserve indoor plumbing. Only the best for our Veterans!!!

Farmhouse renovation project is moving along!!! Founder, Scott, took the board on a tour of the new and improved farmhouse! We are still in need of financial donations to finish the project (cash, checks, PayPal, Venmo). The farmhouse will be utilized by Veterans and their families once completed. A big congratulations to our most recent military member of my family and Patriot Farm! PFC Williams earned the prestigious honor of being the Iron Soldier of his training battalion for having the highest PT score. Well done!!

If you want some quiet time to get away tomorrow, the farm is open. Plenty of trails to walk, chairs to sit in and birds to watch. No agenda or activities, just quiet.

Fishing with Veterans is another nonprofit we have partnered with. They do great work, and are looking to raise funds through this raffle. That Traeger would be perfect for summer cooking!!!

If you have not attended a local charity auction, you’re really missing out! This week will be serving a French themed dinner for the winners of the River Country Chamber’s auction. We typically do not give a sneak peek… But you’re in luck this year! We have a couple surprises, not listed on the menu as well. Everything served is from delicious meals we had in Arcachon, Bordeaux, Medoc and St Emillion.

Patriot Farm had a great visit with Fishing With Veterans this afternoon. We had a chilly walk on the trails and checked out the progress on the farmhouse remodel. It was interesting to learn about Fishing with Veterans and our shared passion for the Veteran community. A fantastic organization making a positive impact! Check out their website to learn about their fishing event on 12 July.

Our maple syrup is here!!! Please email us at patriotfarm4vets@gmail.com to arrange a purchase/pickup. 12 oz. bottles are a minimum donation of $30 and 16 oz. bottles are a minimum donation of $40. All donations beyond the minimum are appreciated, and will go directly to the farmhouse renovations!

Final boil on the evaporator for the season (moved on to the turkey fryer 🤣). Syrup will be available for purchase soon!!!

SYRUP EVENT: We would love to invite you to sap collecting and boiling tomorrow, Friday, March 14 starting at 4:00 PM. It will likely last until 7:00 PM. This is all very dependent on the trees; could be shorter, could be longer. Dinner will NOT be provided, however we will have a campfire. Please respond here, send us an email, or text the number on our website if you plan to attend.

Things are flowing at the farm! We are grateful to have had some help putting in taps this weekend. Riley & Barbara Swinehart helped on Saturday, and today we were joined by Newaygo County Compassion Home and Moxy Homes! We have a total of 84 taps in!!! Now the real work begins!! We will be collecting and processing 3 to 4 times each week. Please reach out if you'd like to help! Don't forget to spread the word about our syrup event on March 8th!

If you have experienced Patriot Farm, you know we provide a tranquil environment, activities, and food, all free of charge to Veterans and their families. If you have not visited Patriot Farm, what are you waiting for? We are open to Veterans, their family, and their friends; basically that includes everyone! We have been successful in the few short years we have operated, but we’re not done serving Veterans.
We are super excited to take Patriot Farm to the next level, but we need your help! We are asking for financial support to provide accommodations to families and guests when they visit. Having accommodations will allow us to host Veterans from anywhere! If you’ve been to one of our events, you have passed the farmhouse at the driveway. Our plan is to completely remodel and renovate the farmhouse to accommodate families and guests throughout the year. This remodel will include making the main floor completely wheelchair accessible. Our financial goal to make this happen for Veterans and their families is 75k. We hope you'll choose to partner with us. We are grateful for any financial support and in-kind donations to help make this next phase happen for Veterans.
